Cocoa is one of the major commercial crop of economic significance in Ghana. Ghana is the world’s second-largest producer of cocoa after Côte d’Ivoire, producing 21% of total global production.


Cocoa is cultivated in six regions in Ghana; Ashanti Region, Brong-Ahafo Region, Central Region, Eastern Region, Western Region, and Volta Region. Ghanaian cocoa is the global benchmark in terms of quality, due to strict quality controls throughout the production chain, and, as such, attracts a premium on the international market.
